Online casinos in Canada: play legal, province by province
In Canada, your province sets the rules, not the casino. Pick yours to see which sites are authorized, how old you need to be and how to deposit and cash out safely with Interac.
Where can you play legally?
Choose where you are while you play. Legal sites check your location, so that is what counts, not your mailing address.

Ontario guideThree questions before you play
Yes, on a provincially authorized site
The Criminal Code leaves gambling to the provinces. A site is legal where you are if your province runs it or authorizes it, not because it shows a licence from Malta or Curaçao.
No, for recreational players
Casual gambling winnings are not taxable in Canada. Interest you later earn on those winnings is, and professional gamblers can be treated differently.
19, or 18 in AB, MB and QC
Every legal site checks your identity and age, often at sign-up and always before your first withdrawal.

19+Offshore casino red flags
Many “best Canadian casino” lists push offshore sites. These are the calls that should send a site straight to the box.
“Licensed in Curaçao, so it's legal here”
A foreign licence only covers the country that issued it. In Canada, only your province can authorize an online casino.
“Kahnawake licensed”
Provinces do not recognize these licences as permission to offer games to their residents.
“Huge bonus, every deposit”
Big bonuses come with 35x to 50x wagering and max bet rules. Work out what they are really worth.
“Instant payouts, no ID needed”
The ID check usually arrives with your first big win, and that is where payouts stall. No Canadian regulator can step in.

Online casino questions
Are online casinos legal in Canada?
Yes, when they are run or authorized by a province. The Criminal Code leaves gambling to the provinces, so each one decides: Ontario licenses private operators through iGaming Ontario, while most other provinces run their own site, such as PlayNow, PlayAlberta, Loto-Québec or ALC.
What is the legal age?
19 in most provinces and the territories, including Ontario and British Columbia. 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
Are winnings taxable?
Generally no. Gambling winnings of recreational players are not taxable in Canada. Interest earned on winnings is taxable, and professional gamblers can be treated differently.
Can I play at Ontario casinos from another province?
No. Ontario-registered sites use geolocation and only accept players who are physically in Ontario while they play. Your home address does not matter, your location does.
How do I know if a casino is legal where I live?
In Ontario, check that the operator appears on iGaming Ontario's list of registered operators. Elsewhere, the legal option is your provincial lottery corporation's site. A licence from Malta, Curaçao or Kahnawake does not make a site legal in Canada.
What is the fastest way to deposit and withdraw?
Interac is the most common method in Canada. Deposits are usually instant, and withdrawals often arrive within one or two business days after the casino approves them.
Is this site connected to Grand Casino Arena?
No. Centre Ice Guide is an independent Canadian information site and has no connection to Grand Casino Arena, Grand Casino, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe or any sports team or venue.
